Morning Prayer
Morning Prayer is a simple way to begin the day with God at the centre. Using Bible readings, the prayers of the Church, and moments of stillness, it helps to steady the heart and focus the mind before the busyness of the day takes over. You don’t need to know anything about church or liturgy to come — just bring yourself as you are. Many people find that this daily rhythm becomes a kind of spiritual anchor: a place to breathe, to listen, and to be rooted again in God’s presence for whatever the day may bring.
Morning Prayer takes place on Zoom, at 9.00am, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The link is here. The password (should you need it) is Gravesend1. You can log on to Zoom using Facebook or Google, or by having your own Zoom account. If you want to see the Church of England version of Morning Prayer we use from Monday to Wednesday, it is here. The Northumbria Prayer we use on a Friday is here.
Rev Colin does the leading. There are three other roles - reading the Old Testament, reading the bits in bold, reading the New Testamant, and reading the even verses in Psalms and other passages (old, bold, new and even, for short). You don’t have to read anything if you don’t want to. The whole thing lasts somewhere between 15 and 25 minutes - there are ways of cutting this down and still honouring God if time is short.
Anyone is very welcome to join us. Whether you are exploring faith, returning after time away, or simply seeking a quiet place to begin the day, there is space for you here. Come and pray with the Church, as the Church.
